A little dog makes a big difference...

Happy Zach

"a little dog makes a big difference . . ." The Happy Zach book, although written as fiction, has little treasures of truth sprinkled throughout the story, because Zach was a real dog. The story briefly focuses on a family in grief, a not-so-uncommon emotion experienced by many today.

The story begins with Emma recalling memories of Christmas that made her happy, then coming back to the reality that her father went to heaven last summer. With the holidays coming, her mother Marissa must find a way to restore her daughter's joy on Christmas morning. The gift she chooses ultimately begins the healing process for both mother and daughter.

My father passed away when I was too young to process grief. It wasn't until years later that I began to deal with my loss. I wrote this book as one outcome of the process, but wanted to focus more on the joy that comes when we acknowledge God in our lives. It's a happy story, full of beautiful paintings, and a touch of humor.

Zach left us in December, 2023, after 16 years of a happy life. His memory will always be in our hearts and his story will be shared with many others.

The book is a Christian faith-based story, suitable for most ages. There is a page that describes Emma's feelings about her loss, but it is quite brief.

Reviews From Happy Readers

Just as God, the Giver of gifts, gave us Jesus, Nancy has written a tender story about another gift given at Christmastime. A puppy . . . reminds a little girl that God loves her and will always remember her . . .
